What is Coaching?
At Watersong Consulting, the coach forms a partnership with you in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires you to maximize your personal and professional potential. The coaching/client relationship helps you to define and take action toward the realization of your visions, goals, or desires. This type of coaching helps folks achieve their goals faster and with more ease than would be possible otherwise.
Watersong Consulting uses trauma-informed reflective inquiry and personal discovery to build your level of awareness and responsibility and provides you with structure, support and feedback. This coaching includes non-judgmental, compassionate curiosity and empathetic listening in order to create space that is safe enough for honest and authentic exploration of thinking and mindset, and the barriers that prevent change.
Coaching accelerates your change progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. When you desire change and yet feel stuck, the coach helps you identify and clear biases and barriers in order to move forward with more positive energy and success. We utilize personal strategic planning, values clarification, brainstorming, motivational inspiration, and other techniques to help you do so.
Coaching concentrates on where clients are now and what they are willing to do to get where they want to be in the future. While coaching provides both a thinking partner and an accountability partner, the results are a matter of the client’s intentions, choices and actions.
Coaching isn't mentoring, therapy, advising, or consulting, although it's related to all of those disciplines. A big difference in those relationships is you're typically seeking answers from an expert. I'm not an expert on you or your goals. I have questions for you, and you’ll ultimately determine which answers are right for you. I’ll provide feedback and advice at times, but I’ll be careful to note when I do, so that you can decide for yourself what to do with that information.
Coaching is about you – your wishes, your exploration, your commitment to change, and your willingness to “try on” and move forward.
This is a process during which you take responsibility for your actions. It's your search for what’s next in your work and life and should genuinely be about you. In coaching, your energy and commitment are key to success. I will assist you in strategy, discovery, clarification and definition; I will help you to set a clear path to what you want, and provide you with the tools for success.
